Terms
Last updated [date of publication]
These are the terms for using Endpaper. Please read them with our Privacy page. If you use Endpaper, you agree to both.
Who we are
Endpaper is run by [legal name of the person or company], in [country or state] ("we").
The private beta
Endpaper is in private beta, by invitation. It is free during the beta. It may have faults, change, or be unavailable. We will do our best to keep your work safe, but we cannot promise the service will always be running. Please keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose by exporting it to Word or PDF from time to time. We may end the beta, or your access, with notice by email.
Your account
- You must be at least [16] years old.
- Give us a true email address, and keep your sign-in methods to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- Tell us at once if you think someone else has got into your account.
Your writing is yours
Everything you write in Endpaper belongs to you. We do not own it, and we do not claim any rights over it. You give us only the permission we need to store it, protect it, back it up, show it to you, and produce the files you ask for. That permission ends when you delete the writing, apart from backup copies that expire as described on our Privacy page.
We will never use what you write to train an AI model, and we will not let anyone else do so.
Using Endpaper
Please do not:
- break the law or use Endpaper to harm others;
- try to get into anyone else's account or writing, or to get around our security;
- overload or interfere with the service, or copy it in bulk by automated means;
- use it to store material you have no right to store.
We may suspend an account that breaks these terms, or that puts the service or other authors at risk. Where we can, we will tell you why and give you the chance to take your work out first.
Keeping your work recoverable
We keep encrypted backups and an offline recovery key so that a failure on our side should not cost you your work. We take this seriously, but it is a promise to try hard, not a guarantee. The Privacy page explains what we can and cannot see.
Ending your account
You can stop using Endpaper at any time. You can delete your account yourself on your account page. We erase it 30 days later, and signing in again before then cancels the deletion. Export your manuscripts first: once the account is deleted we cannot open them for you. We can also close accounts as described above.
Our responsibility
Endpaper is provided "as is" during the beta. As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for losses that come from using it, including lost writing or lost income, except where the law does not allow us to limit that responsibility, such as for our own fraud or serious misconduct. [Have a qualified person check this paragraph.]
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will email you before the change takes effect. If you keep using Endpaper after that, you accept the change. If you do not accept it, you can export your work and close your account.
The law that applies
These terms are governed by the law of [country or state]. [Add where disputes are heard, once decided.]
